JULIA
REINHARDT
I work on things that matter, and I enjoy cross-functional work most.
ABOUT ME
I am a San Francisco based expert in Artificial Intelligence governance and privacy and public policy consultant.
As a Mozilla Fellow in Residence, I assess opportunities and limitations of European approaches on Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence in Silicon Valley, and their potential for U.S. businesses and advocacy.
As a privacy professional (CIPP/E), I advise US companies on compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I also give strategic advice on evolving technology policies world-wide and the complex “global privacy patchwork”.
As a contracting consultant, I work with various private-sector clients as well as non-profit organizations in the areas of technology policy, international events and workshops, and outreach and public relations.
As a Senior Consultant with the German Silicon Valley Innovators, I create bridges between German companies and the Silicon Valley ecosystem through trend scouting, learning journeys, and connecting at leadership level.
Previously, I worked as a German diplomat from 2002-2015, with assignments in Rome, Berlin, where I witnessed and participated in the first drafting of the new EU privacy policy, and San Francisco, where I built strong relationships with Silicon Valley businesses, start-ups, institutions and executives and served as the press spokesperson for the German Government for the Western United States. I started my career with stints at the European Commission Delegation in Beirut/Lebanon and at Europe’s largest think-tank in the field of international politics, the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (German Institute for International and Security Affairs) in Berlin.
I speak fluent German, English, French and Italian and acceptable Spanish and Arabic.
